It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Louis (Lou) Samaris on Monday, July 14, 2015, at the age of 77, in San Francisco, California. Lou was born to Jacob and Efthymia (Effy) Samaris on July 12, 1948, in Thessalonica, Greece and came to San Francico with his family when he was 5 years old. Lou's parents survived the concentration camp at Auschwitz, and Lou was very proud of his Greek and Jewish heritage, spoke fluent Greek and enjoyed Greek culture and music.

Lou started working for Electrolux Corporation in 1966, at the age of 18, and he built an amazing career there as a top VIP Club salesman and Division Manager, until his retirement in 2013. He was a mentor and friend to many in the business. During his 47 years with Electrolux, Lou traveled the world on VIP Club trips with his wife Cathy and built many wonderful Electrolux friendships and lasting memories for all of us.

Lou and Cathy enjoyed collecting antiques and appointing their lovely home in the San Francisco Sunset District, and Lou loved sharing his home and throwing parties for friends and family, including an annual "July Party" filled with Greek music, lots of food and dancing until the wee hours. Lou loved to dine out, and his favorite restaurant was Original Joe's at Westlake, where he became a regular and was loved by all the servers and staff. Everyone knew Lou by his colorful clothing and signature Jams World Hawaiian shirts, which he often gifted to his many friends.

Lou valiantly fought a 2006, Multiple Myeloma cancer diagnosis for 19 years, but fought hard and could not survive a recent bout of double pneumonia. Lou's larger than life personality and kind heart will be greatly missed by all.

Lou was introduced to Cathy by her Mom, who worked for Lou at Electrolux in 1973. They married in 1985, and July 27, 2025, is their 40th wedding anniversary. Lou is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Barry and Albert. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy, his son, David, his daughter, Tina, his grandchildren Jacob, Isabella, Liam, Gabriella, and Giuliana and his sister, Sally. Though Lou is no longer with us in body, he will remain with us forever in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:30A.M. at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, CA 94014, followed by reception at the home of Lou and Cathy.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
