Edward Samuel Rothstein

The only son of Maurice and Leah (Cohen) Rothstein, Eddie grew up in Steubenville, OH.

"Uncle Eddie" is survived by Michael and Christine (Cota) Schwartz, David Schwartz, and great nieces and nephews Haley, Caroline, Samuel, and Thomas.

Eddie lived a long, full life. After attending college in Ohio, he joined the United States Army and was a proud Army Veteran.

In 1968, Eddie moved to Israel and lived on the Givat Brenner Kibbutz for 3 years There he met and became fast friends with a family from San Francisco: Edward and Helen "Dee" (Brodkin) Schwartz and their children David and Michael. They progressed from friends to family and Eddie became Uncle Eddie. After returning to the U.S., Eddie moved to San Francisco and later Pacifica, to be with the Schwartz's and help raise David and Michael.

Eddie dedicated his life to Judaism and studying Jewish history. He loved reading and was always surrounded by books, later donating boxes of books to Friends of the San Francisco Library. Eddie truly loved his Sunday Torah group and celebrating Jewish holidays with the members.

Eddie was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to honor Eddie's life on Wed, July 22nd at 11:00AM at Eternal Home Cemetery, in Colma.
