Helen Jean Granat was born to Cecilia and Joseph Granat, February 1, 1928, and died January 15, 2018. A graduate of Washington High School in SF, Helen led a full life of volunteering and giving back to her community, family and friends. She was always the creative one and usually the best dressed person at any event, family or community function, and always full of life and humor.
Among Helen's favorite community endeavors included Hillsborough Schools, Children's Asthma Research, Theta Delta Xi Sorority, and the Children's Drama Service, for which and for decades, Helen was the scriptwriter, producer and director, cast member, song writer, costume and set designer and seamstress in chief. Children's Drama Service has given years of delight to children at schools all over the Bay Area.
In 1948, Burton Miller, the love of her life, and Helen married. Helen was predeceased by Burt who died in 2011, and grandson Ben Feinstein, who died in 2010. Helen leaves her 4 children, Leslee (Wayne Feinstein), John (Lisa Shields), Greg (Sharon Glatt) and Charlie, 8 grandchildren, and at this writing 3 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. Helen was a great friend and confidante and will be missed by many.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, at Peninsula Temple Sholom at 12:00 PM, 1655 Sebastian Dr, Burlingame, CA 94010.
