The family of Marvin Harold Zinn is sad to announce the death of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle on November 6, 2018. Born on October 10,1922 to Louis and Rena Sobel Zinn, he was the beloved husband of Miriam (Mimi) Friedman Zinn for 72+ years, the father of Loryn Zinn Morton (deceased) (Robert), David Zinn (Lydia), Helene (Lani) Zinn and Adina Zinn (Michael Spiegel): the Zayde of Mandy Losk, Jordan and Jacob Spiegel, and the Daya of Jessica, Nathaniel, and Jonathan (Christine) Morton. Marvin was the big brother to Arthur (Cynthia) Zinn (deceased) and Cecel (Albert deceased) Seeman. He was also "Uncle Marvin" to Linda Seeman Keeble (Bob), Alisa Seeman and Leonard Seeman (deceased) (Robyn), Rachel Zinn (Mike Bauer), Daniel Zinn (Carrie), Hannah Zinn Kirchner (Gerrit), Sarah Vogel (RIck) Jonathan Zinn and Jeremy Zinn. As a member of the "Greatest Generation," he served in the Marines during World War II. Marv was a beloved teacher to generations of San Leandro students. He was president, religious school principal, Hebrew teacher, newsletter editor at Temple Beth Shalom in San Leandro and held a myriad of other leadership roles at the congregation during a period of 70 years. "Mr. Zinn" was completely immersed in the lives of those he loved, with a brilliant probing mind, a keen sense of humor and a deep interest in Judaism, politics and history. He was a one-of-a-kind mensch who will be missed by everyone who knew him. To honor Marvin's memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or any political group dedicated to returning sanity to American politics.
