Jack Riskin, 86, passed away from complications due to pneumonia on March 11, 2015. A native San Franciscan, he was married to his beloved wife, Reva, for over fifty two years. Educated in the San Francisco public schools, he served in the United States Army before earning two Masters degrees in education at San Francisco State University (College) and went on to teach math and social studies in the San Francisco public schools, before being appointed Counselor. He was an avid reader, a World War II history buff, loved to travel and eat good food, was somewhat of a cigar and beer aficionado, as well as a fan of Edith Piaf, loved old movies and had an encyclopedic knowledge of jokes which he loved to tell. If there was one thing he loved the most, aside from his wife and children, it was his three granddaughters, Adrienne, Kelly and Hannah and in his later years, was most happy when they visited. He is survived by his wife Reva Riskin, sons, Seth Riskin and Josh (Susan) Riskin and granddaughters Adrienne Riskin, Kelly Riskin and Hannah Riskin, sister in law Jo Ann Riskin, niece Deborah Riskin, nephew David Riskin, as well as numerous cousins and friends who very much loved him. Jack is preceded in death by his mother Rosalie, father Sol, brother Sam and beloved daughter in law Kathy. The family wishes to thank Reva and Jack's wonderful caregiver for two years, Beatrice Clark for her time and devotion to this family, as well as the more recent ones, including Imelda Brann and Rosa. In addition, the family would like to thank case managers Donna Schempp of Eldercare Specialists, Bill Manewal of Alegre Home Care Services, and Rob Sarison and the staff at Irene Swindells Alzheimer's Residential Care at California Pacific Medical Center. Services, Monday, March 16, 11:00 AM at Sinai Memorial Chapel, 1501 Divisadero Street, SF, followed immediately by graveside burial at Salem Memorial Park, 1171 El Camino Real, Colma. Donations in Jack's memory can be made to the Jewish National Fund.
