Hank, a fifth generation San Franciscan, was born to Elaine Alkus Hilp and Harry Hilp, Jr. He is predeceased by his father and is survived by his mother; by his sisters Christine Tweet and Laura Joseph; his daughter Lesley Hilp; his son John Hilp (Laura) and his grandchildren Riley and Myla. He is also survived by Brodie Tilford Hilp, the mother of his children, and by his dear friend Amy Lien.
Hank earned his undergraduate degree at Lewis & Clark College and his PhD in psychology at U. C. Riverside. After his father's death in 1982, he took on his father's role in running the family business.
Hank was a private person, but those who knew him well always appreciated his dry sense of humor.
Hank arose by 4am each day in order to spend two hours in the gym. This time energized him for the challenges of the day. He was a dedicated Bay Area sports fan and never wanted to miss a Warriors or Forty Niners game. Family and friends knew not to call during games.
He recognized and admired the strength of character of his children and was justly proud of them.
A private family memorial was held.
