In order to fulfill its Chevra Kadisha (being a Holy Burial Society)
duties to the entireBay Area Jewish Community, Sinai opened a satellite
office and preparation room in Lafayette several years ago. At this location,
advanced planning is facilitated as well as at-need funeral arrangements
are made. Susan Lefelstein is the Associate Director at Sinai Memorial
Chapel office in Lafayette.
It is said that taking care of the burial of the dead is the greatest mitzvah because it is a favor that can never be repaid. Sinai Memorial Chapel cares for the dead, comforts the bereaved (through its NextSteps Program) and supports a broad range of religious, educational, and social service organizations through its non-profit status.
